"My Hero"

Life it seems is always filled

With many different trials

These challenges are handled

In many different styles

Some will sit and quiver

Whine and cry and beg

Some cannot deliver

They simply hang upon your leg

Some will try and pass the buck

Or furnish an excuse

Others run and pray for luck

Hoping to get loose

Heroes meet the challenges

Head on and never blink

Regardless of the sacrifice

Of themselves they dare not think

I'm proud to say I know you

And the way you will respond

To any given challenge

Once you land "Across the Pond"

The honour and commitment

That I know you will display

The care you'll show your soldiers

Each and every day

I wish I could be like you

But my metal's not that type

My life's all smoke and mirrors

Camouflaged by hype

I'll ask my Maker every time

I drop down to my knees

To keep you safe and near his heart

Till you return to me

And though I'll never measure up

To what I hoped I'd be

I'll consider myself extremely blessed

That He sent you to me

And if by chance there comes a time

When I lose you to a better life

I'll count myself amongst the lucky

That I had you as my wife

I've lived the life of Riley

Dodging Murphy as I go

Living amongst Angels like you and Jug

While I prepare for my eternity below

Please travel and perform with safety

Remember the power of prayer

Be the person you were meant to be

Come home to all those who care

Remember no matter what anyone thinks

You're "Top" in many things

And quoting the words from the famous song

"The wind beneath my wings"
