The Cross

Our Saviour came into this world
knowing how His life would end.
Knowing He'd be mocked and scorned
and crucified by evil men.

He could have said, "No, Father,
I will not give my life
for people who aren't worthy
of my suffering and strife."

But, Jesus loved us, oh, so much.
His life He freely gave.
He died on the cross of Calvary,
three days later He rose from the grave.

He bore our sins upon the cross
and if we follow Him.
One day at Heaven's gate He'll say,
"Their admission is paid, let them in."
